Aug. 9th, 2008 09:32 amTITLE: Mis-Perceptions Pt 2 / 3
AUTHOR: Den /
raynedanser
RATING: PG
Word Count: 243
SUMMARY: Chris sees something and misunderstands it. He gets pissy and cranky. Lance tries to talk sense into him. It doesn't work.
A/N: I'd planned this to be a bit longer, but real life has a way of blowing up on me lately. This IS part two of three, the next part will be posted a week from today. ;-)
*****
Chris siddled up to Joey at the grill and bumped hips with him as Joey flipped the burgers over. Chris inhaled deeply. Grilled burgers always smelled good, especially when they were Joey's burgers.
"One of these days, you're going to tell me your secret, Joe," Chris decided.
Joey glanced quickly at him. "Not likely. Have you seen JC?" he asked. Chris watched in annoyance as Joey made a point of looking at the people around the pool. JC was still conspicuously absent.
Chris growled in frustration. "No, Joe, I have not seen JC. If he's smart, he's gone home by now."
Joey shut the lid of the grill and turned to face Chris, twirling the spatula like a baton. "Chris, he's pretty upset - " and when Chris began to interrupt, Joey held his hand over Chris's mouth to stop him. "Don't. I can promise you that you didn't see what you think you did. He's in the house somewhere. Just find him, ok Chris?" Discussion closed, Joey opened the grill to check the burgers and started loading a tray with them before he went over to a table with the rest of the food.
Chris stared at Joey's retreating back and wondered if Joey had a point. He took a deep breath, then headed for the house, deciding that it had to be better to know for sure than to always wonder. It's not like Joey hadn't been right about stuff before.
