So last weekend I'm at my son's football game. And I'm trying, I really am, but I need something besides the game... So I texted
msktrnanny and asked her for a pairing and a prompt. And this is what I came up with. . .
Popslash / Bassez / Rain ~380 words

Lance stood in the open doorway, a mug of steaming coffee held in each hand. He smiled and leaned a shoulder against the door frame and watched. It was something he never seemed to be able to get enough of - watching JC while he was working and completely oblivious to the world around him.
JC sat at the piano, perched precariously on the edge of the seat. Spread out in front of him and in a haphazard pile on the bench next to him were loose sheets of paper covered in notes. A pencil was tucked behind one ear and he held another. Lance chuckled softly. He knew without looking that JC probably had his tongue curled out of the corner of his mouth with his brow wrinkled in intense concentration.
Outside, heavy rain fell against the windows. Bright bursts of lightening lit the room and was quickly followed by rolling thunder every few minutes. The wind had picked up and whipped the tree branches against the panes of glass.
When JC sighed, and then combed his fingers through his tangled hair, Lance knew it was time for him to take a break. Lance stepped away from the doorway and quietly crossed the room. He knew JC wasn't aware of him until him dropped onto the bench and gently bumped shoulders.
"Time for a break, don't you think?" Lance asked as he offered JC a mug. He wasn't surprised when JC shook his head no.
"The notes are right there," JC insisted.
"JC, you're trying too hard. Relax. Let them come to you."
Outside, it began to rain harder. Lance smiled as an idea occurred to him. He took JC's hand in his own and tugged gently. "Come on," Lance insisted.
JC stood and let Lance lead him out to the back patio and he looked at Lance in confusion. "Lance, I - " he began.
Lance lightly pressed his lips to JC's. "Shhh."
And then Lance stepped back and watched. Watched as JC closed his eyes and tipped his head back. Watched as the rain drops clung to JC's eyelashes, the loose curls of his hair. Watched as JC opened his eyes again and a smile lit up his face.
"I got it," he said.
