TrickC - Rain and Drooping
Oct. 9th, 2006 09:22 amIt's too much for a drabble, not quite enough for a ficlet.
msktrnanny gave me the prompt on the way TO football, but I didn't have a chance to do anything with it until last night after bedtime.
Popslash / TrickC / Rain & Drooping ~ 272 words
Chris stood in front of the tent, a very pleased expression on his face. JC stared at him and the jumble of canvas behind him, looking worried.
"See? I told you the tent was ok," Chris said again.
JC chewed his lower lip. "Chris, the back is higher than the front," JC pointed out.
"Rain run off!" Chris explained.
JC stepped closer. "There's a droop right there," JC continued, pointing.
"Jesus, JC if you wanted perfection, maybe you should have brought... someone else! I got it up, didn't I?"
"It's up all right," JC chuckled. "Maybe next time you'll make sure Joey brings the directions back with it."
"Whatever, man," Chris snapped. He began unloading the car, roughly tossing in sleeping bags and pillows. When he was done, there was a large pile of bedding inside the tent. Chris dropped into the middle of it dramatically.
JC crawled into the tent and scooted next to Chris. "Chris - " He paused when Chris's expression darkened. "Dude, tent's up. We'll be dry tonight if it rains."
"You sure about that? Maybe it will leak in your droop."
JC sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "This was supposed to be a fun weekend, Chris. I don't wanna spend it fighting."
Chris looked at JC sideways. "We're not fighting, C," he corrected.
"We're not?" JC asked, confused.
Chris grinned wickedly and swung a pillow, bopping JC across the back of his head with it. After, he pounced on JC while he was still off balance and knocked him over. He straddled JC's hips, then leaned down and whispered, "Nope, but now we are."
