The kitchen light clicked, dropping the room into darkness. Chris waited impatiently, listening, waiting for the footsteps to fade into silence. When he could no longer hear them, he waited just a bit more. Timing is everything. He had to get it just right or everything would be lost. In the distance, he could hear laughter and feel the thumping music as it vibrated the floor. He counted to fifty, and still he waited.
Inhaling deeply, he finally stepped into the room. He knew exactly where he was going, kept his destination pictured in his mind, and bypassed the light switch. He moved slowly, placed his feet carefully. He was so close, he could almost taste it. Once, twice he had to stop and wait before continuing.
And finally he was there. He grinned and reached out a hand. His goal was within his grasp.
Suddenly, the light snapped on and the room was awash in light. Chris blinked against the brightness. Caught. He swore under his breath as he turned around and snuck his hands behind his back as he did.
"Chris? What are you doing?" Lance asked, raising one eyebrow.
Chris backed up, stopping only when he bumped into the counter. "Nothing."
Lance stepped closer. "No? Then what's behind your back?"
"Nothing," Chris said again. He swallowed as Lance stepped closer.
Lance chuckled. "Show me."
That he could do. He held one hand out palm up.
"Now the other one."
Chris swore under his breath. This was not good. He would be caught and all his careful planning would be for nothing. There would be no second chances. He sighed and brought his hand around.
Lance stared at the contents of Chris's hand. "Chris-" he began.
Chris brought his up to his mouth and shoved the contents in. He began chewing quickly. "Mm?"
Lance waited for Chris to swallow before kissing him. "I told you to leave the Halloween candy alone."

Date: 2006-10-25 05:45 pm (UTC)PS This didn't show up on my flist and neither did the Into the Mist fic you posted the other day. Very strange. Could it perhaps have something to do with the brush request post that's first in this journal?

Date: 2006-10-25 09:14 pm (UTC)I don't know if that would make a difference or not, actually. I know there's a lot of hiccups going on in general right now and a friend of mine has to have people actually go look at her journal since none of her posts are showing up on people's flists. *shrugs* Your guess is as good as mine.
