Spread out on the sand behind them was a red plaid flannel blanket that covered the lumps in the sand. Sweatshirt hood pulled up snuggly over his head, Cody was out like a light. Zach reached back behind them and pulled another blanket up over the small boy, effectively tucking him into a cocoon. When he was done, Zach faced the beach and the setting sun and rested his head on Shaun's shoulder.

It had been a long day, a perfect day, he thought. They'd had a picnic lunch, built sand castles and played Frisbee for the entire afternoon. Exhausted and worn out, and maybe just a little pink across the bridge of his nose, Cody had crawled onto the blanket, insisting he was just going to rest his eyes and fell asleep in spite of himself.

Now, they watched the fading sun over the water, leaned into each other for warmth in the cool night and listened to Cody's soft sighs in his sleep. Zach sighed, too, and leaned further into Shaun, smiling, hoping for many more days like this.

I hope they do! It's why when I did the future fic last night, I made Zach and Shaun still together. It just feels like a forever love, you know?

I keep saying "sweet", but these two seriously ARE! I love the idea of them spending the afternoon together, with Cody, and Cody insisting he was just going to rest his eyes. Such a wonderful family moment. *sigh*

Yes, I'm at that tag right now, eyes opened wide and drooling at all the candy in front of me. And please, don't take this the wrong way, but I may not read many of them right now. Having come to Shelter late in the game, I still have some ideas of my own that have already been done by all you wonderful people and I don't want to step on any toes.

But, boy oh boy, is this page in my Memories already!
