SUMMARY: Written for the prompts requested HERE. rdg64 asked for a "Glimpse at before: Shaun moving out on his ex?" I managed to sneak out 184 words. ;-)

Shaun glanced around the studio apartment, then reluctantly back at the last of the boxes on the floor by his feet. Three years spent with Steven and it was reduced to this. Five boxes. Four already in the car, one more to go. He still had a few things left to get, but at this point, the sooner he was gone, the better.

“I'll send for the rest,” Shaun said finally.

Steven looked up from where he leaned against the wall opposite him. “Shaun, are you sure? It doesn't have to be this way,” he tried again.

Shaun lifted the box to take down to his car, suddenly grateful for the wagon. “Steven. You're the one that's not sure. I can't wait forever while you try to make up your mind.” He balanced the box on his hip and nudged the door open.

“I'm sorry, Shaun,” Steven said quietly.

Shaun juggled the box onto one arm and reached back for the door knob. He took one last look at Steven. “Yeah, me too,” he said quietly as he pulled the door closed behind him.

Shaun would totally do that! Alone and searching for something solid is better than settling for something less.

Exactly. I just can't see him settling and I think his little "I don't do that well" bit with Zach that day at the diner... I think that was a glimpse into this with "Steven."

Yup, exactly. Shaun's not good at limbo, and doesn't want any more practice. Thanks! I can see it like this, no big blow up, not about anger. (When he lost his temper, finally, with Zach in the car, it seemed like it would take a LOT to get him to that place.) Hmmm, now every little possible insight makes me wonder about the next thing: was he hesistant to get involved with Zach? Thanks again!

I think by the time they finally get to this point, they're both past the anger stage. It's just something that can't be anymore and Shaun is the one to make that move since "Steven" apparently can't.

Also, if the bunnies allow, this might not be the last time we see Steven. ;-)

This is just lovely. The regret is still there and it's tangible, but they both know that it's not working. In many ways, I'm glad they're over, and though it hurt Shaun to leave, it was for the best. Shaun wouldn't have cheated on Steven, wouldn't have even been in Pacific Bluffs if this hadn't happened. So, yes, lovely way of writing the end of this relationship, so Shaun can mend, and then build his new relationship with Zach.

PS. You know I suck at coherent feedback so forgive my ramblings. lol

I was dying to know what was behind his 'limbo' comment to Zach. Stupid Steven. But just as well, because Shaun didn't know it, but he was just waiting for Zach to grow up. *g*

(OMG, that - added to Zach's comment about a childhood wet dream - gave me such a pre-movie bunny! Zach about 16, Shaun home for...something, making eyes at each other... O.o)

Steven's not done yet. ;-) I have a tendency to re-use original characters sometimes. It's... a thing? lol So we haven't seen the last of him yet. *g*

And yes!! I'm sorry, but I don't buy for a second that there wasn't SOME sort of belly tingles, googly eyes or SOMEthing before now. Just. No. :D

And even when they were at the beach and bumped into Tori... they just GRAVITATED towards one another even then. I think she could even see it that early on, even if no one else did.

Yes, Tori got this suspicious expression at the bonfire, and then she tried to kiss Zach (feeling him out, me thinks)... It probably didn't help that Zach didn't have an answer when Billy asked if he and Tori were still seeing each other, with Tori sitting right there listening. *g*

Although, that reminds me. She gave Zach hell for trying to kiss her in the parking lot if they weren't together, but she did the same thing in his house earlier! Hmmm.
