Lights flashed and swirled as the music thumped and pulsed. Girls strutted their stuff, twisting and writhing, wrapping themselves around the twin poles at the end of the stage in ways Calvin didn’t think should be humanly possible. Some wore crazy, revealing costumes, some wore little more than a bikini bottom, held together by thin strings. All of them glittered and sparkled.
The table Calvin and Nikko had chosen wasn’t too far from the raised stage. Calvin sat in his seat, nursing a warm beer that sat sourly in his stomach and doing his best not to glare Nikko. A busty blond gyrated on Nikko’s lap, his hands loose on her hips, eyes hooded as he watched her hips tilt and grind. Calvin wondered how he got that past the bouncer on their side of the stage, then brought his eyes back to Nikko, narrowing them when Nikko’s face lit up with a smile. He couldn’t wonder what Nikko was laughing about.
When the song ended and the beat changed to something low and seductive, the blond stood slowly and strutted away. Calvin breathed a sigh of relief. At that moment, Nikko looked over at him and smiled at Calvin. “She’s pretty hot, yeah?” he shouted.
Calvin gave him a non-committal nod of his head and waved his nearly empty bottle at Nikko, then nodded at a waitress and waited for her to bring another over.
Moments later, he was glad for the fresh beer as Nikko flirted with yet another of the dancers, leaning in close, though this time he was careful not to touch. Calvin tried not to appreciate how Nikko’s shirt was tight without being too tight, and clung across his chest in just the right places. How it was tucked into jeans that were just this side of too tight, making sure Nikko’s narrow waist was hard to miss. Nikko looked good and he knew it and, chances were good, he knew that Calvin knew it.
But as one flirtation led to another and another, Calvin had finally had enough. He slammed the bottle down on the table, drawing the curious gaze of the bouncer, and got up. He walked quickly, grabbing Nikko’s arm along the way, and held on tightly as he pulled Nikko out of the club. Behind him, he could hear Nikko yelling obscenities at him as he tried to yank his arm free. Calvin held on tighter as he pulled Nikko into the parking lot toward where their rental was parked. Halfway across the lot, he released Nikko and kept walking, knowing Nikko would follow. If nothing else, Nikko would never back down from a fight.

The blast of air shocked Nikko when they stepped into the night, but he walked quickly with Calvin as he stormed across the parking lot. Calvin had stopped walking by the time Nikko had caught up and watched with a thunderous expression as Nikko approached. Nikko had almost reached the car when rain began to fall.
“What the fuck was that?” Nikko bit out. “Are we cavemen now, Chuck?”
Calvin bristled visibly at the old nick name, one that was only brought out when Nikko wanted to get under his skin, but he didn’t react any more than that. “I don’t know, why don’t you tell me, Nicky?”
They stood in the parking lot, face to face, breathing hard, as the rain fell and soaked them. Nikko’s carefully spiked hair was soon wilting and laying on his head and he blinked away raindrops that stuck to his eyelashes.
“Maybe, just maybe, I was trying to get your fucking attention!” Nikko hissed, shoving him back. Calvin grunted and put his hands out, catching himself as he bumped into the side of the car.
“My attention! You always make sure I don’t have any choice but to notice you,” Calvin retorted as he shoved Nikko back with equal force. “Now that you’ve got it, what are you going to do with it?”
None of this was going how Nikko had envisioned it when they’d entered the club that night. He stared at Calvin. He had to get this back on track. Before he could change his mind, he reached out and grabbed Calvin’s shoulders, pulling him in for a rough kiss. Calvin grunted in surprise, then pushed Nikko away and stared at him, as if he were trying to figure him out. When he didn’t say anything, didn’t do anything, Nikko worried he’d pushed too much, too far, but then Calvin reached out, cupped Nikko’s face with his hands, and pulled him in for another kiss. He started this one slow, then deepened it.
Surprised, Nikko hesitated, then slid his hands to Calvin’s hips and held on, pulling him in, pressing himself against Calvin. When he pulled back, Calvin’s cheeks were flushed, but he didn’t look like he was going to punch Nikko. Nikko looked at Calvin and his breath caught. Everything Calvin was feeling showed in his eyes – lust, desire, want, even need.
“You should have said something,” Calvin whispered.
Nikko chuckled and was suddenly nervous. “I wasn’t sure.”
Calvin’s grin grew and he cupped the back of Nikko’s neck with one hand and kissed him again, quickly this time. “You should have been,” he said quietly, touching his forehead to Nikko’s.
Then Calvin released Nikko and fished around in his pocket and pulled out his keys. “This isn’t done, but we’re both getting soaked. We can finish this when we get back to the hotel.”
Nikko flashed the mischievous grin that had gotten them into so much trouble. “It’s about time.”
