Prompt: Splatters
Rated: PG
After a long drive, a really terrible meeting with Jeannie, and a long drive home, the only thing that Zach wanted to do when he got home was take a long hot shower and crawl into bed. Those plans changed quickly when he walked through the door.
Standing in the middle of the kitchen was Cody. He wore a tee shirt and denim shorts and was barefooted. Bright smears and spatters of Zach's paint covered him from his forehead down to his ankles. What wasn't covered in paint was bright red as Shaun was crouched in front of him with a stained washcloth as he frantically tried scrubbing the paint off Cody. Tainted water filled the sink as Shaun had rinsed out the cloth as he'd scrubbed.
Zach didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry. “What's this?” he asked.
Shaun looked back at him over his shoulder and Zach did laugh then. His face was covered in bright purple splatters. “Cody apparently had a last minute art project for school that he needed help with. He didn't tell me that I'd be the art project,” Shaun grumbled.
“Bright purple!” Cody piped up.
Zach went to the bathroom and got another cloth, then came back to the kitchen and dipped it into the tepid sink water. He knelt in front of Cody and began scrubbing his thigh. “I have a really cool idea, Codes,” he said as he flicked at some of the paint with his thumbnail.
“What?” the little boy asked as his face lit up.
“Next time you have an art project? Let's keep it on the paper,” Zach finished. He looked over at Shaun's painted face and winked, then set to scrubbing Cody again.

Prompt: Skiing
Rating: PG
Since it wasn't specified either way and since I know nothing about down hill skiing and have a BIT of experience with cross country, that's what we get.
A weekend without Cody was rare indeed, but as his birthday had approached, Shaun had convinced Zach to let Gabe come stay at their place and watch him for a weekend. When they'd left, Zach hadn't been sure if it was a good idea or a bad idea. But now, as the sun shone brightly on the gently sloping fields he quickly forgot his reservations.
He slid the skis back and forth in the snow to get a feel for them and looked back over his shoulder at Shaun. “You coming, old man?” he teased, then pushed off. As Shaun joined him, soon all that could be heard was the quick swish-swoosh of their skis moving through the snow.
The trail led them through dense woods, across a pasture and over a small bridge with a trickling stream beneath it. On the other side of the bridge was a small hill and as a snow ball pelted Zach in the side, he lost his footing and twisted into a heap at the bottom. As he sat in the snow, a shadow fell over him and he looked up into Shaun's smiling face.
“Who's the old man now, huh?” Shaun teased as he held out a hand.

This line right here; What wasn't covered in paint was bright red as Shaun was crouched in front of him with a stained washcloth as he frantically tried scrubbing the paint off Cody.; is so much like some of the things I've been through. LOL
