Many, many thanks to my darling
simone7418 for holding my hand start to finish and to
fansprez for planting the bunny in the first place. Love you both so very much!
Kyle watched helplessly as Layla shook in anger and wiped a tear off her cheek with the back of her hand.
“I asked you, Fish, I asked you if you were gay and you told me that you weren't. You insisted that you were straight, that you wanted this. And you lied, you lied!” She shook her head. “I knew something wasn't right, but I told myself I was imagining it. That if I waited just a little bit longer, everything would be ok.” She sniffled and her eyes shone brightly with unshed tears. “God, I'm such an idiot.”
Oliver reached a hand out to touch her arm, but she shook him off. “Layla, I -”
She shook her head vigorously. “Don't. Oh God, don't make it worse. Just don't.” And she turned and walked quickly away, swiping at her face.
Emotions flickered across Oliver's face. It was some odd mixture of relief and pain and Kyle wished he could take that look off his face forever, but he knew he couldn't. Knew that Oliver wouldn't let him. Instead, he did the only thing he could do.
Kyle kissed him.
Hands on either side of Oliver's face, he leaned in and kissed him once, kissed him again and felt a thrill of satisfaction as Oliver brought his hands up to cup Kyle's face and returned the kiss. It had been so long, too long, since they'd done this. After a moment, Oliver was moving his hands to Kyle's side and was leaning into him, holding on, not letting go and Kyle wished it would go on forever. That it could go on. There was a small moan and Kyle couldn't have said later which of them it came from.
Kyle caught a flicker of movement from the corner of his eye at the same moment that Oliver jumped back, his hands lightly brushing Kyle's arms, then he couldn't back away fast enough as Christian came around the corner. The expression on Oliver's face was more than he could handle.
“Care to tell me what's got Layla so upset?” Christian demanded as he glowered at both of them. “And explain what I interrupted?”
Kyle glanced quickly from Oliver to Christian, back to Oliver again and knew this was no place for him to be. He touched the fingertips of one hand gently to Oliver's cheek.
“See you around, Oliver. Good-bye,” he said quietly. He swallowed roughly, then walked quickly away before he could do something stupid like tell Oliver how much he still loved him or how much they belonged together. He brushed past Christian and forced himself not to look back as he heard the anger in Christian's voice as he began to question Oliver. He could only assume that Christian had run into a tearful and angry Layla and knew that he didn't want to bump into Christian again anytime soon.
Then again, he wasn't sure he wanted to bump into Oliver anytime soon, either.

Date: 2009-08-04 03:21 am (UTC)Right there my heart breaks for Kyle. He obviously cares so much yet he'll walk away at the end because he knows that it's the right thing for Oliver at the moment.
Great job Sweetheart, I was happy to hand hold and am here whenever you need me. Now, I'm contemplating dvr'ing OLTL for watching after work. I remember I used to really really like it.

Date: 2009-08-04 03:24 am (UTC)Thanks darling! It was absolutely appreciated.
And you really should. If they do this story the way that I think they're going to, it sounds like it has a LOT of potential and this is a good week to pick it up again. ;-)

Date: 2009-08-10 03:12 pm (UTC)I think I may have written het. Once. But I don't typically write it..
The only NC17 I've written is character death a couple of times, but that's totally different. And different fandom, obviously. ;-)
